Honeymoon in the Philippines

Hank and I spent two weeks in the incredible Bacuit Archipelago, Philippines for our honeymoon. We stayed at El Nido Resorts at Miniloc Island and Lagen Island. Both resorts are on their own small private island. This archipelago is so unspoiled, there are few places like this left in the world. Each morning at sunrise we kayaked to nearby lagoons that are surrounded by huge limestone cliffs which are millions of years old. What an unforgettable trip!

Camping at the Dunes

We visited the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area last weekend and camped at the Eel Creek Campgrounds. This area is really amazing because within just a few miles there is half a dozen lakes, the ocean, the dunes and the Umpqua Lighthouse State Park. If you go, be sure to stop by Umpqua Aquaculture in Winchester Bay and have some of their oysters!

White Christmas in Portland!

We were lucky enough to get a little snow this year on Christmas. This just topped off a wonderful holiday season. We spent a few days with my family in New York and Hank's family visited us here in Portland. Their first white Christmas ever!

Fall!

It is such a great time of year in Portland. I took these photos across the street from my house. I spent the last 7 years in Southern California after leaving Queens, New York where I grew up. I forgot how beautiful Fall can be!

Camping at Silver Falls

We broke in our new tent this weekend at Silver Falls State Park. Located in the Cascade Mountains, it is the largest State Park in Oregon. The Trail of Ten Falls is a beautiful 8 mile hike which takes you past 10 waterfalls, the tallest being South Falls at 177 feet.

Engaged!

I am engaged myself, so I have a whole new perspective and appreciation for what it takes to plan a wedding!

Hank and I celebrated by spending a weekend at the Highlands Inn in Carmel, California. This is a great spot to getaway, perfect for a wedding as well. Point Lobos State Reserve is close by which has lots of walking trails and the hotel has bikes you can take out for the day. Highlands Inn has an award winning restaurant, Pacific's Edge, named one of the top 100 restaurants in the United States by Zagat. For more casual dining, there is California Market, which has amazing views from their deck. I took this photo one morning while having breakfast.
